‘One week flat’ in Fabulous Mag

Joanna Scott-Lutyens BA (Hons) DipION

We are delighted to see our ‘One week flat’ product featured in an article in Fabulous magazine from The Sun on Sunday this week. Perfectly described by Fabulous, as that frustrating issue where you ‘start the day with abs and post-mealtimes you look five months pregnant’. Bloating is one of the most common complaints a nutritionist will see, in fact this article states that 70% of women seeking help from a nutritionist do so for bloating.

This article explains that bloating can have many causes ranging from certain foods that trigger bloating, but also bacterial imbalance, stress and even parasites which we can pick up even in this country. The trick is to try to ascertain what it is that is triggering that daily expansion of your belly. It goes on to list some less commonly known foods which may lead to tummy issues such as blue cheese and toast made from frozen bread. Fruit is also a major culprit, as when eaten on top of a heavy meal, can then ferment and cause bloating.

We were really impressed that Fabulous have picked up on the importance of strain specificity, and we couldn’t agree with them more. We have hundreds of different strains in our gut and emerging research is now showing that particular strains in fact have specific jobs. Some are more involved in immunity or even food cravings and body weight. However in this particular case, it is important to find the strains which help break down certain foods such as starch and lactose or also combat methane producing bacteria which can cause production of gas and therefore that familiar growing bulge. We are chuffed that this article lists 3 of our favourite strains of bacteria too; Lactococcus lactis Rosell-1058, Lactobacillus casei Rosell-215, and Bifidobacterium bifidum Rosell-71.

Christine Bailey and the other contributors offer some great well rounded tips in this article. Choosing the right probiotic supplement for the job is certainly very important but so is approaching your meal in a calm and relaxed way. Taking some deep breaths before your meal and being mindful about what you are eating will also go a long way to helping keep that waist trim.

We're very excited that we have been featured in a few magazines recently. Read about our other mentions in the following write ups:
