We’ve made a few changes to one of our most popular products! ‘For every day’ is one of our supplements that's specifically intended for daily use at a recommended dose of two capsules per day, each capsule offering 2.5 billion probiotics.
The most obvious change that the customer will notice is that this product has now been changed to make it ‘one-a-day’, with the full 5 billion dose being condensed into one capsule. This should help with ease of use and overall compliance, as often people feel overwhelmed by the number of capsules they’re required to take as part of a supportive holistic protocol.
Your favourite daily product is now even easier to take in its new 'one-a-day' form
So it’s now easier than ever to take this daily friendly bacteria supplement, which is a favourite with our customers, and we think it’s going to be better than ever before! One of the driving factors for the change was to enable both the 30 and 90 capsule sizes of the product to be housed in the latest ‘state of the art’ CSP packaging. This means less packaging, enhanced stability and viability for the product, and slimmer pots for the retailer’s shelf.
Fans of ‘For every day’ will be pleased to know that the probiotics in the product have not changed, and that the same strains and strengths of probiotics have been used. The only other changes are less obvious, and include changes to the manufacturing process which have resulted in an altered allergy profile for the product. Let’s have a more in-depth look at these below…
Lactose intolerant, dairy allergy or vegan – can you still take ‘For every day’?
Dairy substances are now used in the production of the supplement, which means that it can no longer be classed as strictly vegan or dairy-free.
For those with dairy intolerances, e.g. lactose intolerance, the dairy content should not be a problem, as the residual traces of dairy will be negligible; in fact, dairy is not listed as a product ingredient in any of our range. See our Suitability article: Dairy free live cultures - which Optibac if I'm lactose intolerant?
However, if you have a serious, life-threatening allergy to dairy ingredients which may be triggered by exposure to even the tiniest traces of dairy, then it will not be appropriate for you to continue taking the product, and so you may wish to switch to our ‘For every day EXTRA Strength’ instead. See this FAQ: Dairy free live cultures - which Optibac if I'm lactose intolerant?
For vegans, it’s really a personal choice. It’s highly likely that the finished product will not contain any dairy traces, so we do know of vegans who are going to continue to take it. But for those clients or customers who prefer to use a product that’s completely and officially vegan, then you can choose from the following products, which are totally and officially vegan ('For every day EXTRA Strength' is the best replacement for ‘For every day’ in most cases): For every day EXTRA Strength, Bifidobacteria & fibre, For women or Saccharomyces boulardii
How and why, is dairy included in the manufacturing process?
The potential for dairy to be present in some of the supplements arises from the fact that some strains are grown on a fermentation medium containing dairy, used as part of a ‘recipe’ which our laboratories have perfected to get the best growth from the strains. An ingredient is only added if it is considered beneficial to the growth of the strain, so if no vegan/dairy-free label appears on the product, then it is for a good reason. The batches of bacteria are then carefully filtered so in most cases, no dairy traces make it through to the final product; if any residual dairy remains then then it’s only a teeny tiny trace.
The decision to change the fermentation process is not related to the change in the number of capsules in ‘For every day’. Both changes have been planned for a while, and it’s just a coincidence that both occurred at the same time.
We're really excited about the new, updated 'For every day'

But have a quick look below, where we’ve tried to address some of the most common questions that you or your customers may have about the product changes:
Questions & Answers:
1. Consumer:
I have an intolerance to milk caseins (proteins), but the message on the back of the pack says this product is only fine for someone with a lactose intolerance.
Retailer:
It’s fine if you are intolerant to caseins too; it’s just that most people associate dairy intolerance with lactose intolerance, which is why it states lactose there.
2. Customer:
I want a probiotic and it needs to be dairy free.
Retailer:
Is this because you have a dairy allergy or a dairy intolerance? Or are you vegan? (If so, see question 3).
Regarding your allergy/intolerance, can I ask what sort of reaction do you experience if you consume dairy?
In a large majority of cases, when people refer to ‘allergies’, they are actually referring to food intolerances, in which case, ‘For every day’ would still be the recommendation. If there is a genuine allergy, then ‘For every day EXTRA Strength’ would be the recommendation.
How do I know whether I have an allergy or an intolerance?
As a general guide, a genuine allergic reaction will come on very quickly, with common symptoms being swelling of lips or throat; breathing difficulties, vomiting and/or a rash. Only a very small amount of the allergen is typically required to trigger a reaction, and medical treatment is usually required. Sufferers often carry an Epi-Pen in case of a reaction. Common allergens are peanuts or shellfish.
An intolerance, on the other hand, typically comes on more slowly over a period of hours or even days, and symptoms are often digestive in nature, or in the form of mild skin allergies. Usually symptoms are noticeable only if a reasonable amount of the allergen is consumed.
These are only general guidelines, however, and each individual case may be different so if either you, or your customer, are unsure about this, then the nature of the allergy or intolerance should be clarified with a doctor or allergy specialist.
3. Consumer:
I need a vegan probiotic.
Retailer:
It depends on how strict you are about this. ‘For every day’ will most probably not contain any dairy traces, so some vegans choose to take it. But dairy is used in the manufacture of the product, so if you want a product that’s totally vegan, then ‘For every day EXTRA Strength’ would be the best alternative recommendation for a daily product.
