A registered Nutritional Therapist and MSc-qualified Sport & Exercise Psychologist, Helen brings a rare combination of clinical nutrition expertise and evidence-based sports science to her work at Optibac, where she joined in 2021 as Digital Content Executive.
Qualified from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, Helen has built her practice around a specialism in female athlete health - translating complex nutritional and physiological science into practical, accessible guidance that women can actually use. This is the thread that runs through everything she does: making the science real.
That mission found its fullest expression in her book Eat Well Run Strong (2021), a practical and empowering guide to nutrition for women who run or want to start running. Covering fuelling, performance, and long-term health, it reflects Helen's ability to bridge the gap between research and everyday life - a skill she brings equally to her content work at Optibac and her contributions to various publications.
Her MSc in Sport & Exercise Psychology, completed with a dissertation exploring the psychological effects of menopause on female runners, deepened her understanding of the female experience in sport and reinforced her commitment to this underserved area.
At Optibac, Helen works closely with the Nutrition Team, applying her clinical background to create content that is both scientifically grounded and genuinely engaging. She is one of the team's trusted friendly bacteria experts.
Outside of work, Helen practises what she preaches. A committed runner, she has recently embraced strength training and is on her Hyrox journey — always finding new ways to challenge herself and stay connected to the world of female health & fitness she writes about.
