Wider Team

IT are responsible for the installation and maintenance of the computer network and communication systems within a company. IT overseas data management and security, and constantly works to improve the entire company’s ability to function efficiently and effectively. IT reports into Digital which forms part of the Marketing and Communications Team.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job

The IT Support Technician necessitates a proactive and can-do attitude with the ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks. The primary function of this role is to support the IT Manager with the smooth running of the department.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the monitoring, maintenance, periodic testing, availability and integrity of all IT infrastructure and applications.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving support issues proactively and seeing them through to resolution.
  • Providing user training (individually or in small groups) which may include creating procedural documentation, presentations, and user guides.
  • Testing, evaluating, and recommending system enhancements for improvements.
  • Understanding the business needs to support the delivery of appropriate IT systems within budget.
  • Planning and undertaking IT projects as required.
  • Performing some basic administrative duties.

General Responsibilities

  • Approach day-to-day job with a proactive mindset and help identify new opportunities to improve business systems and processes.
  • Contribute to the overall smooth running of the Company.
  • Be ready to constantly expand your knowledge and expertise.
  • Ad-hoc support of the Marketing and Communications Team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Desired minimum: GCSE grades C in English and Mathematics.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) & organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and to deadlines.

Additional Desirable Qualitites

  • Previous experience of working in an IT support role.
  • Proven experience working with server infrastructure and configuring & managing network. components including but not limited to firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Relevant vendor specific or neutral certifications.
  • Experience supporting systems in a Windows environment
  • Experience maintaining or configuring Windows Server.
  • Experience configuring and using Active Directory.
  • Basic networking (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP) knowledge.
